Let me start by saying I loved the original 21 Day Fix you find see my results here, and I am loving 21 Day Fix Extreme just as much. I spent a couple hours on Saturday and Sunday planning out my meals, making an excel spreadsheet and grocery shopping. I was ready for my new Beachbody program to arrive on Monday!
I logged my planned meals into MyFitnessPal and made sure I had my 4 Protein, 3 Veggies, 2 Fruits, 2 Carbs, 1 Fat and 2 tsp! I originally was going to do guacamole for breakfast but after everything was logged I only had 1083 calories. WHAT!?!?!?
If you know anything about me, I preach that you need to make sure you get enough calories in. The average is 1200. That is the number that I have found through my research to keep a healthy diet, and no less. What was I to do?
Having too few calories is not good, and you can't tell me that it is. I believe that to be so true. Your body goes into what is called starvation mode. So I added a bag of Quest Protein Chips after dinner for a snack and that brought me to 1203 calories for the day.
I switched up breakfast a bit and instead of the guacamole I am doing Nuts-n-More Chocolate Peanut butter spread with 1/4 banana on top. This brings me to about 1300 calories and still withing the 21 day fix allowed calories for my bracket.
The way I see it, is as long as I stay within 1200-1499 calories and do the exercises I will see results. I had gained 2 lbs back before I started 21 Day Fix Extreme and since then I have lost those 2 lbs. Listen to your body and your mind. If you feel you need more eat more. Eat an extra veggie, or protein. I truly believe in this program, but I also believe that having to few calories can do more harm then good in the long run.
These workouts are intense, your body needs all the fuel it can get to push you through them. Shakeology is a great option for extra calories for post workout. It puts the necessary nutrients back in your body to ensure you get the best results from the crazy workout you did!
